Some of the region’s long-standing, critical services began as seeds of the Port Kennedy Association. It would all begin in 1984, when a core group of Indigenous community members came together with a shared vision – creating sustainable communities for future generations to thrive in. Using their own funds, the group began some of these projects which they would later, through the association, apply for funding to bolster and grow the services. That legacy remains the fire that continues to burn in the hearts of our board and staff who look to today’s challenges and aim to keep the fire burning.
